As a nutritionist, joining a counseling practice to work with therapists, means bringing a team of people to help individuals meet their personal goals. We are complex human beings. And addressing only one part of an issue can feel disconnected.
I am excited to announce that I have joined Mente Counseling as a Nutritionist staff member!
“Health is a state of complete HARMONY of the body, mind, and spirit.” – B.K.S Iyengar
The interconnection between our body systems, environment, and relationships affects our mental and physical health.
My colleagues and I spent hours discussing a team approach in supporting someone’s mental and physical health journey. For instance, we can support individuals working through mental health concerns while addressing physical health goals.
As a result, this means collaboratively working with individuals and meeting them where they are on their health journey. Although we are surrounded by looking at the latest air-brushed magazine colors or latest diet books, I do not believe in prescribing fad diets and falling into a diet culture approach.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and I focus on partnering with each individual to build body trust, respect, and compassion for ourselves.
This approach creates a more peaceful and joyous food relationship because being ‘body shamed’ or feeling ‘guilty’ about food is never fun.
Supporting individuals on their food healing journey by understanding their food intake patterns, root causes in struggling with food and bring awareness of how foods contribute to the way they feel while honoring the realities of life. I am honored to do this work and look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

I am thrilled to be at this point in my life. Like many of you, my career path was not linear. Key experiences helped shape my decisions and lead me to where I am at today. For instance, learn about the text message I received that encouraged me to change my career path “Stopping Mid-Breath“.
With gratitude,
Tara
